El informe de la ONU sobre derechos humanos en Nicaragua es fatalmente defectuoso y debe retirarse.
Al Consejo de Derechos Humanos de las Naciones Unidas:
El informe del Grupo de Expertos en Derechos Humanos sobre Nicaragua (GHREN por sus siglas en inglés), publicado por el Consejo de Derechos Humanos de las Naciones Unidas (CDHNU) el 2 de marzo de 2023, nunca debería haberse publicado:
-Es extremadamente sesgado, basado en material de un solo lado en lo que fue un conflicto grave y prolongado, a pesar del requisito de examinar «todas las presuntas violaciones de derechos humanos y abusos cometidos en Nicaragua desde abril de 2018».
-La afirmación de que el grupo no pudo obtener material del gobierno nicaragüense es falsa porque el gobierno ya había presentado documentación muy sustancial tanto a la ONU como a la OEA, que nunca fue tenida en cuenta por ninguno de los dos organismos.
-No aborda en absoluto los enormes daños causados a la gente de a pie, las empresas y los servicios públicos por los manifestantes violentos en 2018, perpetuando una grave injusticia contra los derechos humanos de miles de nicaragüenses.
-Hace muchas aseveraciones que son manifiestamente erróneas y no resisten una simple comprobación de los hechos.
-Se presentó de manera sensacionalista y poco profesional, vertiendo calumnias infundadas y dañinas contra el pueblo nicaragüense y su gobierno.
Este informe es un intento de utilizar un organismo multilateral de derechos humanos para dar legitimidad a una campaña de cambio de régimen y así justificar sanciones. Es un abuso del sistema de las Naciones Unidas.
En lugar de repetir estas afirmaciones infundadas contra un país que está claramente en la mira de Estados Unidos para derrumbar su gobierno, el CDHNU debería condenar las medidas económicas coercitivas que EEUU ha impuesto a un tercio de la humanidad, que violan la Carta de la ONU, matan a miles de personas y constituyen crímenes de lesa humanidad.
Si el CDHNU quiere ayudar a los pueblos de los países sancionados, debe abogar por el levantamiento inmediato de las medidas coercitivas, lo que crearía un clima más favorable al disfrute de los derechos civiles y políticos. Si el CDHNU quiere facilitar la paz y la reconciliación en Nicaragua, debe examinar aquí el testimonio de los nicaragüenses de a pie y las conclusiones de la Comisión de la Verdad, Justicia y Paz de Nicaragua. UN Human Rights Report on Nicaragua is Fatally Flawed and Should be Withdrawn
To the United Nations Human Rights Commission:
The report of the Group of Human Rights Experts on Nicaragua (GHREN), released by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) on March 2, 2023, should never have been published:
• It is extremely biased, based on material from only one side in what was a serious and prolonged conflict, despite the requirement to examine “all alleged human rights violations and abuses committed in Nicaragua since April 2018.”
• The claim that the group was unable to get material from the Nicaraguan government is false because the government had already submitted very substantial documentation to both the UN and the OAS, which was never taken into account by either body.
• It completely fails to address the enormous damage done to ordinary people, businesses, and public services by violent protesters in 2018, perpetuating a gross injustice against the human rights of thousands of Nicaraguans.
• It makes many allegations that are demonstrably wrong and do not withstand a simple checking of the facts.
• It was presented in a sensational and unprofessional manner, making unfounded and damaging slurs against the Nicaraguan people and their government.
This report is an attempt to use a multilateral human rights body to lend legitimacy to a regime change campaign and justify sanctions. It is an abuse of the United Nations system.
Instead of repeating these unsubstantiated claims against a country clearly being targeted for regime change by the United States, the UNHRC should be condemning the economic coercive measures the latter country has imposed on one-third of humanity, which violate the UN Charter, kill thousands, and constitute crimes against humanity.
If the UNHRC wants to help the people of sanctioned countries, it must advocate the immediate lifting of coercive measures, which would create a climate more favorable to the enjoyment of civil and political rights. If the UNHRC wants to facilitate peace and reconciliation in Nicaragua, it must examine the testimony of ordinary Nicaraguans and the findings of the Nicaraguan Commission for Truth, Justice and Peace here. Other essential material that needs to be considered is found here, here and here. The spurious, unprofessional report published by the GHREN on March 2, 2023, must be withdrawn.
