“PONER FIN INMEDIATAMENTE A LAS MEDIDAS COERCITIVAS UNILATERALES”

- Agradecemos a los organizadores por convocar esta Reunión para compartir información de nuestros países sobre el impacto nocivo de las Medidas Coercitivas y hacer a la vez un llamado para poner fin a estas medidas ilegales del derecho internacional.
- Nos solidarizamos con todos los países víctimas de estas sanciones económicas coercitivas unilaterales, concordamos con lo expresado por los panelistas y sus conclusiones sobre el impacto negativo y las consecuencias que estas medidas ilegales tienen en nuestros países.
- Adicionalmente, mi país Nicaragua y Centroamérica región altamente vulnerable a los impactos adversos del Cambio Climático, acaba de ser impactada por 2 potentes huracanes categoría 5 y 4 en menos de 15 días, causando devastación y cuantiosos daños en su trayectoria por nuestro país. Cuba y Venezuela, Pueblos sometidos al recrudecimiento de las agresiones en medio de la pandemia y de daños provocados por desastres del Cambio Climático.
- Ahora que el Mundo está padeciendo el embate de esta pandemia, que ha causado pérdidas devastadoras y mucho dolor, acentuando la desigualdad, la concentración de riquezas, el desempleo, la pobreza, la falta de acceso a la salud y el hambre, entre otras crisis que han golpeado a la humanidad desde antes de esta pandemia.
- Para recuperarnos en el mundo post Covid-19, es imprescindible reemplazar las políticas de egoísmo y unilateralismo por esfuerzos colectivos, por solidaridad, la cooperación y multilateralismo, para realmente contribuir a lidiar y resolver las necesidades de todos, particularmente, los pueblos más vulnerables.
- Hemos venido manifestando insistentemente que a nivel internacional, se deben tomar medidas multilaterales para disminuir el impacto negativo de esta Pandemia, una determinante es el cese inmediato de las medidas económicas coercitivas unilaterales, acciones ilegales que afectan a naciones con más de 2.000 millones de habitantes y que aplicadas en tiempos de pandemia, eleva su ilegalidad al nivel de crimen de lesa humanidad.
- Es imperativo suspender inmediatamente las medidas económicas coercitivas unilaterales impuestas a nuestros pueblos. Estas agresiones son verdaderos obstáculos en la erradicación de la pobreza y para avanzar en la consecución de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenibles contenidos en la Agenda 2030, que hoy más que nunca deben guiar nuestros pasos para vivir en Paz y en un mundo libre de estas Medidas ilegales ante la carta de Naciones Unidas y que no benefician en nada al Multilateralismo.

VIRTUAL MEETING
“END UNILATERAL COERCIVE MEASURES NOW”
November 25, 2020
- We are grateful to the organizers for convening this meeting to share information from our countries on the harmful impact of Unilateral Coercive Measures and to call for an end to these illegal measures under international law.
- We express our solidarity with all the countries that are victims of these unilateral coercive economic sanctions, and we want to thanks all the Briefers and tell them that we agree with their conclusions on the negative impact and consequences that these illegal measures have on our countries.
- In addition, my country, Nicaragua, and Central America, a region highly vulnerable to the adverse impacts of climate change, has just been hit within 15 days, by two destructive Hurricanes, IOTA category 5 and ETA category 4, causing devastation and considerable economic damage to our country. IOTA is on record as the most powerful Hurricane to hit Nicaragua since records are kept.
- We reiterate our Solidarity with the People of Cuba and Venezuela, that are dealing with the intensification of these aggressions in the middle of the pandemic and of also the damages due to Climate Change.
- Now that the world is suffering the consequences of this pandemic, which has caused devastating losses and much pain, increase inequality, concentration of wealth, unemployment, more poverty, hunger and lack of access to health, among other crises that have struck humanity prior to this pandemic.
- To recover in the post-COVID-19 world, it is essential to replace policies of selfishness and unilateralism, with collective efforts, with solidarity, cooperation and multilateralism, in order to truly contribute to addressing and fulfil the needs of all peoples, particularly the most vulnerable.
- We have been insisting that at the international level, multilateral measures must be taken to reduce the negative impact of this Pandemic, one determining factor being, the immediate cessation of unilateral coercive economic measures, illegal actions that affect nations with more than two billion people and which, applied during times of pandemics, raise their illegality to the level of crime against humanity.
- It is imperative to immediately end the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on our peoples. These aggressions are true obstacles for the eradication of poverty and to successfully achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda, which today more than ever, must guide our efforts to live in peace and in a world free of these measures, which are illegal under the United Nations Charter and which do not benefit Multilateralism in any way.
